Get Involved
At Swaney Elementary, we believe strong schools are built through strong partnerships. Students, families, staff, and community volunteers all play an important role in creating a welcoming, supportive, and engaging school environment.
Families are encouraged to be active participants in the life of our school by attending school events, supporting classroom and building activities, volunteering when opportunities are available, participating in Parents and Teachers of Swaney (PTS), and serving on SITE Council. PTS meets monthly on the first Tuesday, and SITE Council meets four times each year. These groups provide opportunities for families, staff, and community members to learn about school goals, support school programs, provide feedback, and strengthen communication between home and school.
PTS provides valuable support for students, staff, and school programs throughout the year. Their contributions help fund technology, classroom resources, library books, field trips, special assemblies, student activities, and family engagement events. PTS and school volunteers also help support favorite school traditions and activities such as Mistletoe Marketplace, Donuts with Grown Ups, Field Day BBQ, field trips, and other events that strengthen our school community.
Students also have opportunities to get involved through leadership, service, clubs, school activities, and programs that promote responsibility, character, and community. Swaney offers a variety of student activities, programs, and engagement opportunities that help students build leadership skills, develop positive relationships, serve their school community, and feel connected to Swaney. Opportunities may include:
- Running Club
- Student 2 Student
- Recycling Club
- STEM Club
- D.A.R.E. Program
- Character Strong
- Monthly Recognition Assemblies
- Community Partnership Opportunities
Swaney also offers on-site Latchkey services to support families before and after the school day.
Volunteers are valued members of the Swaney community. Whether working directly with students, helping staff with classroom projects, supporting school events, assisting with family engagement activities, chaperoning field trips, or partnering through PTS, volunteers help make Swaney a stronger place for students to learn and grow.
We are grateful for the families, staff, and community members who give their time, energy, and support to Swaney. Their partnership helps create the kind of school community where every student feels connected, encouraged, and ready to succeed.
At Swaney, we are a family. It
is our goal to make learning
fun, meaningful and engaging.
